Born on June 5, 1953, in Watertown, MA, Brian’s journey through life was marked by numerous accomplishments, an adventurous spirit, and an enduring zest for living each moment to its fullest. Brian’s early years were shaped in Watertown, where he attended Watertown High School and later graduated from UMass Amherst. His athletic prowess became evident early on, and he achieved a remarkable feat in the 1983 Boston Marathon, completing it in an impressive time of 2:20:20 – a testament to his dedication and passion for running.

An adventurer at heart, Brian embraced an active and dynamic lifestyle. His coaching legacy, spanning over two decades at Stratton Mountain in Vermont, showcased his commitment to nurturing young talents in skiing and snowboarding while maintaining a thriving marketing career. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Brian’s preferred mode of transportation was his trusty bicycle. Famed for cycling seemingly impossible distances, his love for biking extended to his choice of attire, fearlessly donning spandex on any occasion.

His love for music, the outdoors, dogs, and devouring a pint of ice cream in one sitting endeared him to those fortunate enough to share in these simple joys with him. Brian’s devotion to his three children – Daniel, Colin, and Victoria – was unwavering. He dedicated countless hours shuttling them to various sports events and social gatherings. In his later years, his grandchildren became a source of immeasurable joy. Despite the challenges posed by Alzheimer’s, Brian’s interactions with his grandchildren were marked by patience, love, and wonder at every milestone.

Brian is survived by his children and their spouses: Daniel Igoe and Julia Ludwig of New York, NY; Colin and Molly Igoe of Dorset, VT; Victoria and George Barton of Canton, MA.
