Sam Ryan, the sportscaster was born in Lake Ronkonkoma, New York on the 5th of February, 1969. Not much is known about her background, particularly her familial background but it is known that she was raised in New York where she began and completed her education. Sam studied at the New York Institute of Technology and also has a bachelor’s degree in communications from the Hofstra University.

We do not know why Sam Ryan chose a career as a sports journalist but it all began for her at WBAB Babylon, a local news station in New York. In the early days of her career, she also worked for other local news stations such as WVIT Hartford and WFAN New York.

Sam Ryan also spent some time in radio, working for ABC Radio Network in 1996. As she continued the upward progress in her career as a journalist, she joined Fox Sports New York in 2000.

She spent two years working for Fox Sports New York before she changed employers again and joined WABC-TV ABC in September 2002, spending a year there before she joined ESPN in 2003, where she briefly worked before joining CBS Sports and later, WCBS-TV in June 2006.

The journeyman nature of her career is commonplace in the world of journalism and it continued after she joined WCBS, in a move to further elevated her career. She joined the MLB Network in September 2011 and began to work for the network as a reporter and a studio host.

Her time at the MLB Network saw Sam Ryan work on shows like Quick Pitch, and The Rundown, and as a reporter, she reported live from several major games in the country, including high profile games like the Chicago Cubs against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

She remained a part of the MLB Network roster well into 2018 until she returned to one of her previous stations, WABC-TV, in June.

Her work as a talented reporter has not only given her a chance to work at the highest level but it has also earned her a couple of award recognitions, including a local Emmy Award and an AP award in 1999 and 2000 respectively for her reports.
